From malware analysis to mission planning, US Cyber Command (CYBERCOM) wants artificial intelligence handling more of the military’s cyber battlefield.
The command is seeking a major increase in funding for its “AI for Cyber Operations” program, growing the initiative from $5 million in fiscal year 2026 to $138 million in fiscal year 2027 amid broader Pentagon push toward AI-enabled warfare capabilities, according to a report.
The planned investments span intelligence gathering, offensive cyber activity, defensive missions, and the broader infrastructure needed to support AI-enabled cyber warfare.
