An indigenous Electromagnetic Launcher (EML) prototype developed by India’s Institute for Plasma Research has moved from lab experiments to full-scale live demonstration.
During testing, the system’s carriage reached speeds of 18 meters (40 miles) per second, while blocked trials validated its full 8-kilonewton thrust output.
The launcher is capable of propelling a 170-kilogram (375-pound) mass, consisting of a 60-kilogram (132-pound) carriage and a 110-kilogram (243-pound) payload.
